Even if you stand still, if you are near a hive or nest, the bees may perceive you as a threat and sting you. Bees are not naturally aggressive and will usually only sting if provoked. They are docile creatures that go about their business without bothering humans. However, if you accidentally step on a bee or swat at it, it may feel threatened and sting you in self-defense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bees also release a pheromone when they sting that alerts other bees to attack, so it’s best to avoid swatting at bees if possible. If you encounter a bee, it’s best to remain calm and still and allow it to fly away on its own.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
